August 22 Henry David Thoreau Quote"Go Confidently in the direction of your dreams!
Live the life you've imagined."
Thoreau
July 16 Love Quote of the Day"The throb of life is love. Without it, humans are bodies of bones clad with skin".
Tiruvalluvar, Tirukkural: 80 June 16 Live a life of love.The great Scottish essayist and historian Thomas Carlyle married his secretary, Jane Welsh. She continued to work for him but when she got ill, Carlyle, who was deeply devoted to his work, didn't seem to notice, so he allowed her to keep working. But she had cancer and eventually was confined to bed. Although Carlyle truely oved her, he found that he didn't have much time to stay with her or much attention to give her. Then she died. Afer the funeral Carlyle went up to Jane's room, noticed her Diary lying on the the table and began to read. On one entire pages she'd written a single line: "Yesterday he spent an enitre hour with me and it was like heaven, I love him so much" A reality he had somehow been too blind to see, now revealed itself with crushing clarity. He'd been too busy to notice how much he meant to Jane.He thought of all the times he'd been preoccupied with his work and simply failed to notice her. He hadn't seen her suffering. He hadn't seen her love. Turning to the next page, he read words he'd never forget: "I've listened all day to hear his steps in the hall, but now it's late and I guess he won't come today." He put her diary back on the table and ran out of the house. Friends found him at the side of her grave, covered in mud. His eyes were red from weeping; tears were rolling down his face. "If only I'd known, if only I'd known" he cried. After Jane's death, Carlyle made little attempt to write again.
Romans 6:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us"
You know, actually God's love is more than any human love, and he also longs for us to come and spend time with him May 31 Chin Up.TEARS ARE FOR BABIES...WORRIES ARE FOR FOOLS... When a man lifts you up, it's definitely to the height of his hands, but when GOD lifts you up it's limitless, seek HIM now and forsake all else to be uplifted forever!!! Tell me about the law of gravity that states anything that goes up must come down, and I will introduce you to the law of aerodynamics that states that it is possible that something can go up and remain there. Your blessings shall never come down, u shall never fail, the law of gravity does not apply to your finances, business, family etc. The devil is a liar. You may be going through a tough time right now but God is getting ready to bless you in a way that only He can. Keep the faith. The love of God is like the ocean, you can see its beginning, but not its end... November 24 It went really wellMy first teaching session in Daventry went really well. The class seemed to accept me very quickly and were not too worried about me taking over their class.
I did a little powerpoint presentation telling them a little about me, and then I had something else about "Subject - Verb aggreement" which was a bit too advanced at that stage, so we did a few work sheets individually and then played a game using the BBC skillwise website, on the smart board. That was good to help identify the 'Subject' and 'verb' of the sentence.
I'm quite excited about my next lesson and hope that I can do a good job. November 18 Teaching TomorrowMy new teaching job startes tomorrow. Can you believe it. As you know I have been doing some volunteer teaching with the Korean Language students and that was easy, but this is proper stuff now. Its only one day a week, but the hourly pay is very high so it will be nice to have some steady money coming in along side the income from doing Graphic Design.
I will be teaching litercy skills to adult learners in a Further Education College in Daventry. They're not happy about having a new teacher, but I hope they will be ok with me.
I'll let you know how it goes. October 03 A Brand New BikeMy Dad decided that he could do with a Bike. With the old finances being the way they are; it was unlikely he would be able to purchase a decent bike for himself so he prayed. He asked God to provide him with one.
Some time later (I don't know how long); my sister arrived home to find a black and silver gentleman's bike outside her front door. Thinking it was a bit strange she ignored it assuming someone would come back for it. She went back out in the evening and again came home to find the bike still there. There was a bicycle lock on the bike but it was not locked up. She rang the police to ask if any bikes fitting its description had been reported stolen. They said 'No' and said she could take the bicycle inside.
A week later no one had been to enquire about the bike that had been left there. Neither did the police contact my sister again about the bike.
It is a mystery where the bike has actually come from, but it is clearly an answer to prayer.
Praise God! September 29 Wouldn't it be niceSo with the old finances being the way they are, having absolutley no money and being charged by the day for having no money....
I thought it would be quite nice to have a job where;
Then I reaslised I have a job like that! Yes, I get paid £8 an hour each week and I get to work from home so transport is no issue. Whats more, its Graphic design work which I love doing, its Tax free until I do my next tax return in over a year's time, the only thing I need to is try and get about 35 hours a week to try and pay off the money I owe. Ok so everyone pray I can get enough hours. September 23 Back in the UKNow I am finally back home, I might have time to write about something on here. June 11 wo sheng qi leYes Yes, I only come here to write something when I want to have a good old moan!
Well... I can't remember what I came here to maon about this time, haha.
While I'm here; let me just let you the things that make me angry:
I think that about covers it. June 10 我是忘恩负义When I wrote my last blog entry I was still in my annoed state and made myself sound like a spoiled ungrateful princess.
I am however, not spoiled or ungrateful and I am infact very appreciative of the fact that I have a cleaner come in to my apartment on a regular basis. This saves me a lot of time and I know that never again in my life am I ever likely to live somewhere that I have a regular cleaner come in. Although I would have prefered not to be woken up so early yesterday, I am happy that she cleaned the floor (and whatever else it was she did). June 09 Its my Day offGot a day off for the Dragon boat festival which is great. Stayed up until 1am last night because I knew I didn't need to get up in the morning. Only blooming well got woken up by the cleaner early this morning! So much for my planned lie in that I was really going to enjoy and treasure. Now I'm going to have a banging head ache all day, possibly all week. I knew there was a possibility that the cleaner would come but I didn't think she'd come so early. I didn't think she'd put the washing machine on and not close the bathroom door, allowing all that noise pollution into my delicate head.
Thanks you for your attention. June 06 The Lion went to sleep in the meetingYou know the Microsoft office assistant ? There's one which is a Lion.
During the lunch meeting someone gave a presentation via the projector and after the presentation there was a discussion.
However... the lion fell asleep and started snoring really loudly!!!
Everyone wondered who was snoring in the meeting, but I'd seen the Lion lay down and go to sleep and I started laughing.
It was one of those moments when you shouldn't keep laughing and it really not that funny.
I'm laughing out loud about it now, as my colleagues wonder what is so amusing about my work. LOL! ONE WAY TO HELPFor those of us in China;
One way you might like to help the earthquake survivors is to purchase the following CARE FOR CHILDREN SMALL HYGIENE KIT (1000 needed) (cost RMB130)
and send your parcel to; Care For Children Ms. Susan Sun, See http://www.careforchildren.com.cn/home.htm for more info. If you can not afford this by yourself then why not get your friends involved to make up a kit together? June 04 General ExpenditureI can buy a lovley cooked meal for 5 RMB, this meal will infact last me two days, because it is so big!
HOW then can I justify buying a small snack size snickers for 3.20? The normal size one is 4 RMB! April 19 just a quick updateBeen in Shanghai just over 2 weeks now. I have a job as a graphic designer in a company called TalentMore. I have been working on their website. I sorted out all the English wording for the English site first, which was fun. Now I'm working on jazzing it up a bit. The people are all very lovely and I have been out for dinner with colleagues a few times now. I also have Xu Bin to look out for me, while I am here. It has been great to have a familiar face helping me to settle into a new place. I am living in an apartment which the company own. With two colleagues who speak very little English. At first I didn't like it but it grew on me. The location is what swung it for me. 2 Mins walk from Lancun Road Station. A 24hr convenience shop . A dry cleaners, and a post offcie just across the road from my complex. I have a big 'Lotus' supermarket a little further away and then work is about a 25 minute walk. March 05 Where is my passport? UPDATEI feel I must appologise for my last entry. I was writing in Anger and in fact it was misplaced anger.
It is annoying that the Indian High Commission do not answer their phones, but that is all they are guilty of... well.... that, and not properly sealing the envelope which had my passport in. The tracking number they gave me was correct, and even in their busy time they were able to process my visa in time for me to go on my trip to India. They also posted to me a copy of the proof of posting so I could make a claim to royal mail. They did this at their own expense and I am grateful.
Monday morning I had to travel to Peterborough passport office (around 40 miles from my home) to buy a new passport. When I arrived at the offices I had all my forms filled in and about 5 forms of ID with me. I had another form to declare my Passport had been lost. The lady behind the counter opened up the relevant screen on her computer to fill in the details of the loss. She then informed me that actually my passport had been cancelled already, back in January and the passport had been destroyed. What happened was; a member of staff at Royal Mail had found my passport loose. Doing the correct thing, they sent it to a Passport office. Now if passports have been cancelled they must be destroyed. However I had NOT cancelled my passport and I think it would've been better for the passport office in Durham to actually return my passport to me! they have all my details on file ie. my address to send it to. At the very least they could've rang me to inform me that my passport had been found even though I didn't know it was lost.
The good news was, I was able to have a new passport the same day and not wait a week for it to be returned by post. I didn't even need the several forms of ID I had on me and yes it was more expensive but not too much. I maybe able to make a claim of compensation so we will see what happens. I'm happy the saga is now over. w-hoo! |
